The operation principle of acoustic (sonic) cleaning systems is based on high-energy sound waves generating pressure differences on dust and ash particles, eventually shaking them loose from the surface. Depending on local conditions, the detached particles are then carried away with flue gas or by gravity.

Acoustic cleaner offer a varied range of applications. Besides the removal of ash and dust deposits in pipes, outlet hoppers or multicyclones, the use of sonic horns is a reliable technology for cleaning heat exchanger surfaces such as in air preheaters (of any type) or economisers.
Beyond that, acoustic cleaning has proven to be a safe and energy-efficient method for cleaning DeNOx systems and bag filters, keeping fan wheels free of dust and removing fine particles or ashes from silos and electrostatic filters.

Our pneumatically operated acoustic cleaner generate a sound with peaks in the frequency range between 80 and 400 Hz which enables effective cleaning. Depending on the quality of the local compressed air supply, the sound pressure lies at a maximum of 162 dB(C). The sonic horns are supplied pre-assembled, having been tested in our sound chamber, complete with ¾" air service unit containing a solenoid valve (coils 24V DC) which can be controlled either via the client's existing control system or our programmable control units to define duration and intensity of the cleaning intervals.
The systems can be mounted between the individual cone sections, by an existing wall flange, or directly welded onto any suitable surface. For trials we usually install in existing manholes to minimize costs and effort.
